Stepping into the center is in itself a calming experience. The atmosphere is a respite form the bustle of Braddock Ave. I leave with a peaceful outlook and a healthier body.

Massage for Fibromyalgia

For most Fibromyalgia sufferers, dealing with pain is a daily task. It can be difficult to find relief, even with commonly used medications and remedies. No one knows the exact cause of Fibromyalgia, which adds to its mystery and difficulty to treat. Fibromyalgia is a chronic pain condition where the muscles and nervous system are on overdrive. Muscles are tight and tense and the nerves do not receive signals to relax when necessary. This leads to a slew of other symptoms which include: headaches, disrupted sleep, depression and moodiness.
In one scientific study with Fibromyalgia patients, massage was shown to:
*Improve sleep patterns
*Decrease pain, fatigue, anxiety, and depression
*Decrease cortisol levels
(Sunshine, W., Field, T., Schanberg, S., Quintino, O., Fierro, K., Kuhn, C., Burman, I., and Schanberg, S. (1996). Journal of Clinical Rheumatology, 2, 18-22.)
At the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing, I have seen wonderful results with Fibromyalgia clients. A massage here and there to deal with particularly strong bouts is helpful, especially when you need instant relief. But regularly receiving massage may reduce daily pain levels and have more lasting effects. Try a massage today!

Yes Kevin, it is always back and forth about which started first the physiological or psychological. The hardest part for most people is that they are often treated with little respect from the medical field despite being in very real pain, no matter what the reason for it. If only doctors could realize that even if they can't "find" something wrong, it doesn't mean that what the person is saying that they are dealing with is not their reality.

Fibromyalgia is a tough condition to deal with. On one hand you experience so much pain that is difficult to deal with and at the other end the doctor tells you after all the tests that there seems nothing wrong with your body. The debate continues wheather it is a physiological condition or psychological.

Thanks! I have never heard of this product before, but I looked it up and the ingredients look great. We will have to test it out before we recommend it to our clients. Currently we recommend a product that we sell called 024. It is an essential oil pain relieving spray that works wonders.
Has your sister-in-law tried massage or energy work?

My sister-in-law suffers from fibro and she feels it daily whether it is depression, sleepiness, fatigue or pain. It is awful. I recently gave her something our family loves called Topricin pain cream and she has loved it! We love it because it is natural and safe and I think that is the biggest reason she loves it too- and it helps her feel better! Maybe this would help other readers too- I hope.
