Stepping into the center is in itself a calming experience. The atmosphere is a respite form the bustle of Braddock Ave. I leave with a peaceful outlook and a healthier body.

The Benefits of Pregnancy Massage

How fantastic it is to be a woman!!! It feels like a miracle to be able to carry a baby inside of you anywhere from 37-42weeks, and then ever so dramatically push his or her body out and safely in to this world. For all of the time that the baby is growing and changing, so is the woman’s body. And as much as we are built for this wonderful experience, it can feel utterly exhausting. Do not get me wrong, I am not a fan of leaving people with just negative insight on pregnancy, (people do that you know). There are so many incredible moments and feelings and changes that these will forever override any turn-for–the-worse that a woman’s body will go through. But the fact is a woman needs to truly care for herself and the little person growing inside of her. It helps the experience to be that much more beautiful and that much less tiring. This means a woman should take the help if offered, eat healthy and in moderation, keep active to a healthy degree according to what her body is feeling, and she should treat herself to some alone time or relaxation time for some serious baby bonding as well. She has all of the reason in the world to set a side some time to lie around and do nothing at any hour of the day, because this kind of time can be so good for the health of he and the child.
I am a pretty active woman. I find myself on- the-go often. However, when I was pregnant with my daughter, I found myself going to bed earlier than my average bed time and finding no guilt in just taking alone time for myself and the baby whenever my body or mind expressed that need. I tell people this often…I felt my healthiest when I was pregnant. I was ultra aware of what I was putting into my body and on key with what my needs were and I did not hesitate to take action for what was the best for me and my babe. From the start, I told myself to live this experience to the fullest, for I don’t know if I will ever be pregnant again…because we don’t really know… And by the way, one should not have to be pregnant to listen to this advice.
A pregnancy massage is an incredibly positive experience for a woman at this time in her life. Especially considering that a lot of women are still working until the very end of their pregnancy term and they are finding it more and more difficult to find some time alone. At The Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing, we have established a most relaxing setting of soft sounds, cool temperatures, and comfortable pillows for hugging, for that one hour of getaway time for the mother-to-be and her baby. There are many benefits of a pregnancy massage. A woman may lack touch for whatever reason at this time in her life. This is a time for her to feel touch in a positive way with therapeutic benefits of massage as well. The pregnancy massage can open up her breathing and help with circulation, and aid in relieving neck, back, and foot pain. It can help with postural balance and bring her to a point of relaxation that can help pull any focus away from feeling pain. It can heighten body awareness which in return can aid in her paying more attention to her needs. A lot of women fall asleep during the hour of pregnancy massage…rest is always a plus and well-needed during a pregnancy. I have yet to see client who is not happy to be here for that hour of attention and positive support during their pregnancy. I am telling you, it is the way to go!
