Stepping into the center is in itself a calming experience. The atmosphere is a respite form the bustle of Braddock Ave. I leave with a peaceful outlook and a healthier body.

Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing Welcomes Back Our Weekly Meditation Group!
By Sarah
October 22nd, 2009
Our weekly meditation group is back by popular demand! We have been hearing comments from clients that they would like to learn how to meditate or get back into a regular meditation practice.
The meditation will be held every Monday night from 7:30-8:30pm, starting November 2nd. We will practice silent sitting and walking meditation followed by a short group discussion each week.
A free meditation introduction/refresher will be offered the first Monday of every month. This includes basic meditation instruction, an overview of the structure of the hour, and a chance to ask questions. These intros will be at 7:00pm, directly prior to the group meeting. Introductory sessions are available on a request basis so please let us know if you will be coming.
Why meditation?
Many physical and emotional issues can be related to our mind state. Most of us spend our waking hours with our minds on overdrive, constantly dwelling on the past, thinking about what we have to do, and worrying about responsibilities. The goal of meditation is to enter a “thoughtless awareness”, by simply being present and allowing the mind to settle. Through meditation, we experiment with being an observer of the present moment and not getting carried away by mind chatter.\
One of the most important aspects of meditation is its’ ability to cause a shift in self awareness. This shift happens when, through patience and non-judgment, we are able to let go of our mind chatter, acquiring clarity of mind. Meditation has been hailed as a great stress reducing activity because it slows and changes brain wave frequency and central nervous system function. As a result, one is left feeling mentally and physically rested and refreshed. Meditation is a wonderful addition to any self care routine.
If you are interested in coming to the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing fot the introduction to meditation at 7:00pm on Nov. 2nd, contact Sarah to reserve your place.

There is a $5-10 suggested donation; no one will be turned away for lack of funds
