Chilean Home Remedies

As I was brainstorming for this blog entry during my travels, my husband suggested I write about home remedies from Chile. I thought it was a wonderful way to connect my work with my travels. It also made for interesting conversation with family and friends. All the remedies provided come from them.

Stomacheache- Have a satisfiying meal of burnt, fat- free bread. Mmm!

Conjunctivitis- Dip a cotton swab in freshly steeped and slightly cooled black tea. Use swab to clean eye. Afterwards, use as a compress for 10 minutes to prevent reoccurrence.

Do You Have a Haven?

I’m sure we’ve all had our moments when stress takes over and the word ‘escape’ comes to mind. Or when plans change and you find a free hour to do what you want with. Sometimes I act on impulse and just get away for a brief time. I usually find myself wanting to go outdoors, and I still go out for walks in the winter, but there is an indoor place that is a haven of sorts for me. It’s become one of my favorite places to be. It’s the prayer labyrinth at East Liberty Presbyterian Church.
