Peroxide for Safer Brushing

Along my quest to banish all of the superfluous and perhaps toxic chemicals from my house, I revived an old-fashioned practice: using hydrogen peroxide as part of my dental routine. Most of us do not want to pay ten dollars for a small bottle of all natural mouthwash. Solution? Cheap, easy to find and time tested hydrogen peroxide. Now besides using it as a before and after floss rinse, the most important use it may have as part of your brushing regimen is......disinfecting your toothbrush right before you brush!!

Happiness May Be Contagious

A pair of researchers was recently featured in a New York Times Magazine article (1), regarding their exploration of an interesting idea: that happiness may be contagious.  The researchers, James Fowler and Nicholas Christakis, argue that one person’s happiness may cause other people in that person’s social network (such as that person’s neighbors, acquaintances, friends, and relatives) to become happier too.  They suggest that a change in one person’s happiness will ripple through that person’s social network, as well as through the social networks o

You are already complete!

     As my conversations wander from friends, colleagues, and clients, it seems that a lot of people I know are going through some big transitions right now. I know I sure am. I am taking a year long intensive yoga teacher training, packing for a big move this summer, going through an audit, and expecting a baby in the fall. All of this on top of life's regular chores and curve balls. Most of these things are positive transitions so when I feel stressed, I will stop and breathe and change that word "stressed" to "overwhelmed".

Using Water to Aid in Relaxation

Every night I fall asleep to the relaxation sounds of a thunderstorm.  I have been listening to my thunderstorm CD for at least 15 years now.  It is soothing and peaceful for me. I appreciate the natural sounds of rainfall that we have been experiencing recently in Pittsburgh.  My CD player got a little break:)
