We are Thankful for YOU!

We are so thankful for YOU!!!!  Each of you are such an inspiration to us, so I asked the staff to share with you what they are grateful for:

Nikki: "Your openness, vulnerabiliy and commitment to self care.  You each inspire me to know these places in myself more fully!"

Cara: "I am grateful that my clients are invested in taking care of & healing themselves, and in turn, are also genuinely interested in others well-being.  This brings a warmth to the center that is unlike any other work enviornment I've experienced."

Lisa:"I appreciate the enviornment PCCHH creates for all of us to relax, slow down, and be attentive to ourselves.  Every client understands the deep importance of this in their lives."

Angie: "Our clients have a genuine interest in improving their state of well-being and the willingness to make lifestyle changes necessary.  I'm so grateful for, and inspired by, the opportunity to assist them with their growth!"

Laura: "My biggest desire is to have a job that helps to evolve the consciousness of the planet and create a peaceful enviornment for people to heal. I am grateful to experience BOTH at PCCHH. I love the support of my co-workers and the willingness of my clients to try something new."

Leslie: "I'm thankful to have the honor of being able to know and to help my clients on such a meaningful level."

Beth: "I am grateful for my clients' openness and the trust that they put in my work."

10 Tips to Embody Gratitude this Thanksgiving!

This Thanksgiving try slowing down in the true spirit of the holiday and use it as a laboratory for play.  How can you be mindful and grateful in each moment?

Try a few of these tips during the day to embody the holiday:

  1. Remember to breathe.  Be mindful and grateful for the way that breath moves through your body providing nourishment and life.
  2. Be mindful of your senses. (Taste, touch, smell, sight, sound)  *Especially doing this while eating will help you to not over indulge in calories, but rather the decadence of each morsel :)
  3. Connect with your heart in each interaction.  Could you choose to open it more in any moments?
  4. Give thanks and be mindful for what went into each food on the table.  Be mindful of the entire cycle of planting, growing, harvesting, and preparation.
  5. Practice the art of kindness to not only others but to yourself.  This means notice any negative self talk and choose to be kind and grateful to yourself as well.  Can you tell yourself somethings you like, and that you are grateful for about yourself?
  6. See if you and your family could come up with 10 things each that you are grateful for. Write them down, and read them aloud to each other.
  7. Show gratitude for your body.  If possible include some physical activity in your day.  Be aware of what it is like to be alive! Feeling movement, your heart beat, your skin...
  8. When you touch, or hug someone else can you open to truly give and receive your and their support?
  9. Can you be present in each conversation.  Notice if your mind wanders when someone else is speaking.  Just notice WHERE your mind has a tendency to wander.  The past?  The future? And invite it back to the present.
  10. SLOW DOWN.  It is really tricky to do the suggestions above if you don't!
Throughout the day, take time to also notice how you feel when doing these things, so that you re-enforce the feedback to your brain about feeling good.

Lessons and Good-Byes

"How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard" - Winnie the Pooh

As many of you know I'm pregnant, and have decided to stay at home with my little sweet pea when she is born.  This decision is bitter sweet for me, as I have seen my journey at the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing a true learning experience and honor. Not only do I love my colleagues, but I love the interaction with you, our guests. Each and everyone of you who have walked through the doors have taught me something, and many of you have inspired me to look at health, personal growth, and self-love in new ways. Many of you I have gotten to know as friends and others I have had the gift of working with one on one, and these interactions will be missed greatly.

I'd like to share some of the things I have learned while being apart of the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing.

  • Being responsible for your health is up to you.
  • Taking one step at a time, will get you to your goals.
  • Being honest with yourself allows you to move forward.
  • Release fear and you will shift what needs to be shifted.
  • Living your life with an open heart allows you to heal.
  • Allow yourself to just be.
  • Stay in the present, let go of the past, and believe in your future.
  • Listening is the key to so many things.
  • You have a voice let yourself be heard.

There are so many more things I've learned, but this bog would go on and on to list it all. So at this time I would like to thank all of you for allowing me to have met you, be your friend and to learn so much. I would especially like to thank Nikki for creating a space in the world that we all can come into feel welcomed, and know we will leave healthier, and happier. As Winnie the Pooh once said, "How lucky I am to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard."
