Stepping into the center is in itself a calming experience. The atmosphere is a respite form the bustle of Braddock Ave. Soft-spoken Sarah uses the mighty strength in her heart and hands to dissolve the kinks in my mind and body in a caring, logical way. I leave with a peaceful outlook and a healthier body.

Using Water to Aid in Relaxation

Every night I fall asleep to the relaxation sounds of a thunderstorm. I have been listening to my thunderstorm CD for at least 15 years now. It is soothing and peaceful for me. I appreciate the natural sounds of rainfall that we have been experiencing recently in Pittsburgh. My CD player got a little break:)
In appreciation of water, here are some snippets about ways to use water for relaxation. They come from a book that I like to read named "1001 ways to Relax" by Susannah Marriot.
Unwind with a tea bath
Add an infusion of camomile to a warm bath for relaxing and green tea for skin restoring antioxidants.
4 bags of camomile tea
2 bags of green tea
large tea pot
Stew the tea bags in a pot with just boiled water. Run a bath, tip in the infusion, and disperse. Sqeeze the green tea bags to put over your eyes.
Swim with ease
The repetition of swimming stills a restless mind and is an effective and relaxing way to tone. 90 percent of your weight is supportedand joints are cushioned from jarring movements. If you lack confidence, look for one-to-one lessons for adult beginners or stroke masterclasses.
Drink plenty of water for relaxation
The brain is 85 percent water and when hydrated its cells send messages more efficiently, keeping you calm under pressure. If you work in a heated room, eat processed foods or salty snacks, and drink caffeinated drinks or alcohol, lack of water leads to stress as well as tension headaches, lethargy, and depression. Drink eight glasses of water each day, more if you work out or spend time outdoors in the heat.
