Amy Green
Amy Green was lead to the practice of massage therapy through compassion for others in pain and some emotionally moving experiences. In 1999, a desire to see a large part of America led her to travel, with a very loose plan, across the plains, over the Rocky mountains, to the Pacific northwest, down the west coast and back across the middle. Along the way she met some interesting healers. She was looking for a new place to live, but instead returned with resolve to stay in Pittsburgh and attend massage therapy school. Upon returning, she began training within a few days.

This sort of clarity and spontaneous insight has guided Amy on many of her big life decisions. This is how she came to Pittsburgh initially as well. Through these types of situations she has learned the power of a vision when the mind and body are in a clear space.

Earlier in life, her father had experienced a traumatic accident that left three vertebrae crushed, resulting in major surgery and medication. As well, a past partner had suffered a debilitating back injury and subsequent surgeries, bringing much difficulty to his life. Having seen the effects up close, the drive to heal was sparked into motion.
Amy attended the Pittsburgh School of Massage Therapy, completing advanced training in Neuromuscular Massage. Later, she went on to further her education- becoming certified in Hot Stone Therapy, attuned in Reiki I, and recently obtaining certification in Chinese Craniosacral and Indian Head, Face, and Foot Massage.

Her bodywork could be described as “deep and grounding” a cornucopia of technique weaved together with knowledge and intuition. Myofasical release, stretches, range of motion, traction, trigger point release, deeper structural work and light, nurturing touch that leaves the recipient in a deeply relaxed state are all harmoniously integrated. Each session is creatively synthesized for the client’s needs at that particular time. Amy is also a good listener, and has been a receptive and caring ear when people need to talk through their healing process.

Music has always been a passion, and having played multiple instruments, as well as performing for most of her life, she enjoys using music and sound therapy as part of her practice. She is currently completing her Bachelors of Art in Music. Other interests involve playing music with her husband, making art gardens, animal welfare, yoga, jazz, sustainable, eco-friendly building, nurturing interior design and riding motorbikes over the bridges and hills of Pittsburgh.
