Stepping into the center is in itself a calming experience. The atmosphere is a respite form the bustle of Braddock Ave. Soft-spoken Sarah uses the mighty strength in her heart and hands to dissolve the kinks in my mind and body in a caring, logical way. I leave with a peaceful outlook and a healthier body.

Counseling & Psychotherapy
In all of her work, Leslie brings compassion, warmth, thoughtfulness, respect, and dedication. Her basic style of psychotherapy can best be described as "psychodynamic." Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is a type of "talk therapy" that aims to bring awareness to the relationship between past and current experiences, the conscious and the subconscious, and one’s mood, behavior, and ways of relating to others. Leslie will collaborate with you to gain a better understanding of who you are, what is working well in your life, what seems to be working against you, and the direction you would like your life to take. This increase in clarity and awareness, along with added support, will place you in a position to make the best possible decisions moving forward.
During the first few sessions, Leslie will be interested in getting to know you, your hopes and goals for therapy, and any problems or symptoms that you are experiencing. She will also gather some of the history leading up to your current situation, including some of your childhood experiences. Leslie will listen attentively to what you have to say, share her thoughts with you, and ask you questions that may help you to more deeply explore and discover your feelings and needs, and the changes that you want to make in your life. She will work with you to identify, address, and resolve barriers that are making it difficult for you to achieve your goals.
Psychodynamic Psychotherapy is typically a long-term treatment, and sessions are 50 minutes long. Most people find that they have a lot they want to talk about early on, so they usually like to start off by meeting 1-2 times a week.
Leslie also offers sessions of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a therapeutic technique that integrates the mind and body through a combination of eye movements (or tapping, tones, or other external stimulus) and the identification of positive and negative beliefs about one’s self in relation to past, current, or anticipated disturbing events. This method has been designed to help individuals better "digest" the distressing memories or thoughts so that they interfere less with daily living. EMDR has been used to help people with anxiety problems, addictions, depression, and physical/medical problems that have ties to emotional or psychological factors. Sessions are typically 50 minutes long, and frequency is individually tailored and mutually determined between the client and therapist.
Motivational Interviewing, a gentle style of therapy to help people who want to change certain behaviors by awakening their own motivation for change. This method was originally designed to help people who want to quit or cut down on drug or alcohol use, and has since been used in other areas.
