Kate has always had an intuitive nature and compassion for other people. Growing up, she hadn’t planned on becoming a massage therapist, but life’s events have brought her to massage and healing. She’s always believed everything happens for a reason, and not to fight it, so therefore, she always seems to be brought to where she is supposed to be. Kate attended Career Training Academy in Monroeville for Massage Therapy, and graduated in the spring of 2000.

Immediatley after graduation, she moved to New Jersey. During her time there, she immersed herself in learning all that she could about the areas of massage that called to her the most, and fine tuning her skills in those areas. Kate worked at a few massage offices and spas, and then was offered a postion at a healing center. Her career really flourished there. She worked with clients that ranged from children to geriatric clients, and had the opportuntiy to work with some very skilled therapists.

Kate has attended additional certifications for Cancer & Mastectomy Massage, Healthy Breast Massage, and Reiki I& II trainings on top of her core trainings in Swedish, Myotherapy, Reflexology, Shiatsu. Additionally, she has had the oppportunity to take a Specialist training in Prenatal, Postpartum and Labor Support Massage with Elaine Stillerman. Elaine Stillerman was a pioneer of prenatal massage and author of Mother Massage. Shortly after her training with Elaine, she was approached by a midwife about becoming a birth doula, and saw this sign as guidance as to where her career was heading. She then attended Doula training through ALACE (Association of Labor Assistants and Childbirth Educators) and became a certified doula. In a few months time, Kate became pregnant with her little one.

After the birth of her daughter, Kate’s main focus was motherhood, and her massage career took second stage. She continued to take classes, such as her Master level Reiki and CPR classes. It became increasingly hard to have a career and be a mom. During the last few months, life has guided Kate and her family back to the Pittsburgh area, and has brought Kate to the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing. She is really looking forward to being a part of a team of healers again.

Kate specializes in Prenatal, Labor and Postpartum massage therapy, although she thoroughly enjoys inetgrated massage therapy sessions as well. This includes deeply focusing in on a problem area while also addressing the body as a whole. Kate’s main interest is on the well-being of her clients. While she strives to do everything she can for her clients, she cannot work alone. At the end of her sessions, Kate likes to give self care suggestions so that your path to healing can continue.

Kate continues to expand her knowledge, experience and expertise in bodywork and she attends workshops and classes as often as possible to enhance her skills to better serve her clients. Kate is an active member in the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA), the American Pregnancy Association (APA), and the International Childbirth Education Association (ICEA).
