Beth has been a massage therapist at the Pittsburgh Center for Complementary Health and Healing from almost the very begining!  She has become like a family member to me and many of you as we have watched her get married, be pregnant, and become a mom of two, Kendra and Theo.

We asked Beth a few questions about her and her massage, and here are her answers:

1. What's your favorite service at PCCHH?
From Head to Toe (2 hours)  I love this session for so many reasons.  It starts with a foot soak which allows  the client to quiet him or herself after a busy day...the feet feel refreshed after a scrub and soak as well. Following the soak and scrub the client receives attention on their feet for 45 minutes of reflexology. It is great for balancing the whole body and feels amazing!!  After this I get to give the client a one hour customized massage.  So, If the client wants any specific work done ...I am happy to have the option to work with the whole body as well as a foot focus.  This session gives an ample amount of time to treat the client on a whole... both physically and mentally and that is what I love to do!

2.  What is your favorite essential oil?
I like chamomile.   It has a light; sweet smell. It is not overwhelming with a strong fragrance like some oils. It's a sleep aid, good for dry skin, and it's an anti inflammatory.

3. How do you relax?
Slow walks with my family.  Lots of "looking around" and putzing.  Sometimes getting out of my house is the clincher for relaxation. It takes me away from all of the stuff that needs to get done. And having the whole family together outdoors is ideal for me:)  I love these walks.  Music is another form of relaxation for me.  Many kinds!  Not necessarily slow music always.  It's a good release to listen and sing and dance.  I truly love variety.

4.  What 3 words would you use to describe your massage?
Relief. Nurturing. Grounding.    (Though, my husband Matt said..."VERY WARM HANDS")

5.  What is you astrological sign?
Taurus

6.  How has being a mom changed your life?
Becoming a mother gave me a new and wonderful way to love and feel. It settled me quite a bit as well.  And it gave me more confidence in certain areas of my life. It is by far one of the most beautiful experiences in life.  Practically indescribable, which is unusual for me to say:)

7. What is one of your favorite quotes?
"It is not half so important to know as to feel."  Rachel Carson  "The Sense of Wonder"  This quote and the book it comes from explores the idea of remembering the child within all of us and doing it through nature.  It also discusses being with children and teaching them about the beauty of our world through having excitement for nature and being in it:)   It's a great book with some good photography as well.
