Anyone who has spent much time with me knows that I LOVE WEARING FLIP FLOPS!  In fact I own more flip flops than any other type of shoe.  But while walking my dogs this morning in last years Teva’s I realized how tired my poor feet were, and how tired my body as a whole has been lately.   I thought, I should schedule a reflexology session.  But  just then it finally hit me that I have not bought new flip flops this year.  Last years version still looked fine, so I just hadn’t made it a priority yet…Yet that is.  Today I will find new flip flops.

Now, I’m sure you are wondering why the heck am I writing about my footwear choices or my shopping habits.  But the fact of the matter is that your postural well-being starts from the ground up.

When I said that my whole body has been more tired lately I don’t doubt for a moment that it is from the lack of supportive shoes.  Now don’t’ get me wrong, I love to be barefoot too, but if you are going to wear a shoe it should not be harming your body.  Often times clients will show up with foot aches for a customized massage or reflexology session and when I find excess tension my first question is how old are their shoes and are they supportive.  And often new shoes solve many of their aches and pains.  Now don’t get me wrong, I will probably still schedule a reflexology session, but it will be for the love of spa and general well-being rather than fatigue.

I hope what ever you are wearing on your feet you are keeping in mind the importance of good shoes, and as always good health.
