This time of year we focus more on what we are thankful for, but why not add this to each evening to go to sleep with a peacful and thankful heart.
As I was lying in my bed the other night, I felt a calm come over me. I was aware of my surroundings. My fiance, Matt and I just got off of the phone. He told me that he would be home soon from a long night at work. I laid there and listened to the soft sounds of my thunderstorm CD. I also could hear the faint sound of music coming from my daughter's room. Kendra had been sleeping for quite some time now. The glow of my candle light in my room was very comforting. I felt the fluffiness of my comforter over top of me. I felt warm and secure in my cozy room; in my small house. I felt very thankful.
I closed my eyes and thought about my day. I took the time to be thankful for the days blessings. They are ever-changing if you take the time to notice. No matter what problems arise through out our day, there is something to be thankful for. Take that time, each night to go over this in your head, out loud, or write your thanks in a journal. It leaves our hearts and minds in a peaceful and positive place right before sleep. And we all know, that a restful sleep is one of the best stress busters out there!
